Nothing to do? Never in my classroom.

If you have finished the current assignment(s), proceed with the activities listed below, beginning with the first one and continuing down the list in order (or feel free to select one that interests you).

If you ever think you have nothing to do in my classroom, check with me. You are not to put your head down on the desk or on your forearm or against the wall, or any way attempt to obtain comfort and/or sleep during class time. The activities listed below are your assignment--your task--if you have completed everything else. You must be on task.

Early Finishers' Activities

  1. Check PowerSchool for assignments flagged as MISSING or INCOMPLETE. Properly complete and submit those assignments.
  2. Work through the Cyber Aces Tutorials for a taste of what our Cyber Defense Teams are doing during competition.
  3. Create an account at Code.org and explore any of their computer science courses. Fundamentals of Computing students should focus on a Python course or JavaScript course.
  4. Another way to explore Python programming is with a course at Runestone Interactive. Either Python course is an acceptable start.
  5. Go to Scratch and create short animations and/or games. If new to Scratch, follow the instructions for getting started. Create an account, complete some tutorials, and then continue creating short animations and/or games.
  6. Go to MIT's AppInventor, sign in with your Google username, and complete the three beginner tutorials, "Talk to Me," "Ball Bounce," and "Digital Doodle." Complete additional tutorials as you wish.
  7. Explore HTML programming at the W3Schools site (also explore the CSS tutorials, as CSS is a critical component of HTML programming).
