Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find out what work I missed when I was absent?
It is your responsibility to identify and make up any work missed due to absence or a field-trip. Don't return to class and ask Mr. Eason, "What did I miss yesterday?" You should identify the work to be made up by checking Google Classroom, PowerSchool, and with your neighbors. Then, send Mr. Eason an e-mail (using your school email) that (1) identifies the date and day absent, (2) the excuse (was it a parent note, doctor's excuse, bereavement, or court), (3) the assignments that were missed, and (4) suggest a time or plan to make up the work missed. Please note, your absence must be excused to make up work missed or to receive extra time to complete assignments.

The hardest thing to make up is what was said by Mr. Eason. Since his classes are not lecture-driven, the information he shares in class is frequently based on student questions and evolving demonstrations, not something that is readily documented for someone who is absent. When you return, if you see other students implementing a new concept or hear Mr. Eason reference a new concept, you can't sit idly by and ignore it. You must ask about it. Ask your neighbor, then ask Mr. Eason if needed, but don't ignore it.

How long do I have to make up the work I missed?
The district allows five school days to complete missed work. You should follow the procedure above as soon as you return to school. Any extension needed beyond five days must be approved by Mr. Eason (approval is not automatic and will depend on the circumstances).

Is there a pencil sharpener, a hole-punch, a tissue, tape, a pen or pencil, etc. I can use?
Yes and no. Tissue is usually provided for student use on the shelf near Door B. No pencil sharpener is available. Other items may be available by asking Mr. Eason. Students should not touch anything on the teacher's desk or open the drawers on the teacher's desks or open the drawers/doors on any cabinet. Any personal printing or printing of work for other classes requires a $0.10 donation per page to the computer club.

If I need to see Mr. E for assistance or use one of the computers, when can I do that outside of class time?
The computer lab is open daily during all three lunches (but with limited space), again at 4:00 pm, and from 8:15 until 8:45 in the mornings (by appointment only for the mornings because you need a pass to come upstairs).
