The National Technical Honor Society came to Stratford High School in the spring of 2007. The 70 members inducted since the chapter formed include the Valedictorian of the 2007 Class and one recipient of a $1,000 NTHS Jon H. Poteat Scholarship.

The purpose of NTHS is to recognize "honest, responsible student-citizens who have made a personal commitment to excellence in all aspects of their education."

Successful applicants demonstrate this excellence in three critical areas. First, they have an excellent overall GPA. Second, they are active members and leaders of student organizations such as DECA, FBLA, HOSA, NHS, Beta, QUEST, JROTC, student government, youth court, etc. and/or they are active in community organizations such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, YMCA, YWCA, etc. Third, these students have earned excellent grades in at least three career or technology courses (accounting, auto repair, broadcast journalism, carpentry, computer programming, culinary arts, engineering, health science, information technology, marketing, virtual enterprise, web page design, etc.).
